Porsche art anyone? – Robynn Snaders is painting a restored 1963 356 for the 2009 Houston Art Car Parade. Her creation is called Psychedelic Surfer Dude. Hmmm. Kind of a new take on the Outlaw 356. [Via Chron.com]
2011 Porsche 911 998 spotted at test track – There really isn’t much to see in the spy photos. This 998 looks very similar to current models. Rumors are circulating about the 998 being lighter than the 997 which would improve performance and gas mileage. Whatever changes come, you know it’s going to be an awesome car. [Via PriceWheels.com]
Panamara convertible in the works – It’s not 100% confirmed yet, but it appears Porsche may be thinking chop top for the Panamera in the next couple of years. Wolfgang Durheimer, Porsche’s R&D chief, mentioned a Cabriolet version of the Panamera in an interview recently. He also mentioned it would only have 2 doors and a conventional soft-top roof. That make anyone want a Panamera? [Via MotorAuthority.com]
Porsche GT2 kicks butt at Sebring – A GT2, driven by Ian Stewart and Peter Lier, took first in the one lap events turning in a cumulative lap time of 7:04.987, while a GT-R, driven by Steven Rankins and Will Taylor, took second with a cumulative lap time of 7:11.475. Right now the GT-R and GT2 are tied for first in the big-dog SSGT1 Big Bore class. I expect nothing less out of a GT2! [Via MotorTrend.com]
Yet ANOTHER chance to win a Porsche 911 – In case you just can’t wait to get your hands on our Giveaway Porsche, you can win one later this month at the Four Winds Casino Resort in their drawing. Pack up the old folks and head to the Midwest for your chance at a $79,000+ 911. If one of our readers wins, I want to hear about it. [Via Virtualization]
One of the largest Porsche dealerships in the world filing for bankruptcy – You want to believe you wouldn’t see it, but it’s just a fact of our times. Champion Motors in Pompano Beach, Florida has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Sounds like it’s Porsche and Audi car dealerships are the two affected by the bankruptcy. [Via South Florida Business Journal]
There aren’t any good pics of that chick painting the Porsche, but generally hippy painting and Porsches don’t (or shouldn’t) mix. 🙁
On the 998, Yeah nothing really to see, But something about spy pics of a new model or revision excite me none the less to see!
So, once the 998 comes and goes then the 999, then what? A 1000 doesn’t sound too exciting. Guess we will all have to wait a few years to find out.
I can’t believe the Panamera going convertible. That is a total shocker to me. They are really pushing the envelope with that car.
That is too bad the economy has affected the large Porsche dealership. I guess nothing is out of touch from our economic slump this time. Things should start improving next year I hope.
convertible? really? they haven’t even released the car to the public. hopefully they aren’t getting ahead of themselves
jeff i wondered the same thing in the ducati line. obviously they did an ok job with the change
I’d really like to see more of that girls artwork. Kind of an expensive canvass if you ask me.
No surprise that Porsche is being effected by the bad economy. It’s hurting everyone.
Don’t for get to watch me on ‘Wheel of Fortune’ tomorrow night, May 11th on ABC.
Yeah, it will be interesting to see what they do after the 998-999.
why does everyone multiple post? Put all your thoughts into one post.
jeremy i agree more artwork would be great. i think that artwork should only be done on 356 kit cars and not the real thing
yes jeremy porsche may be affected right now but not every business is being affected. some are having better times today than the supposed “good” times
James, I certainly am.
yes jeremy wheel of fortune has been good hasn’t it? i missed it, is it possible to see the show it online?
@Russ – they’re trying to get there post-count up. Duh. 🙂
The J’s are notorious for it. hah!
Can’t believe about the Porsche dealer going bankrupt. My local Porsche dealer just send me an e-mail about special lease offers. Some examples were:
09 boxster S. $800/mo, 0 down.
09 911 turbo or cabriolet $1000/mo 0 down.
Still don’t seem like great deal for leases but $0 down sounds good!
above was supposed to say coupe instead of turbo, my bad!
i would think more porsche dealerships will be filing too.
i wonder how the local bentley dealer is doing? lol
padding my post count
😉
How did you do on WOF Jeremy? I know somebody getting on the show in about a month.
@Andrew`s first post, agree!….couldnt they find a willing Microbus?
