In my quest for a Porsche, I ran across this 1976 911 Slantnose Cabriolet that also had the wide body Turbo look with flared fenders and whale tail. A 1984 3.0 liter had been dropped into the car along with a few other minor improvements. The car was in decent shape with the usual external dings, a few rips in the upholstery and a tear in the top. Mostly cosmetic stuff that would be easy enough to fix. The guy wanted $16,500 for it.
Interestingly enough, I don’t think the car had been driven in a long time and he had it buried in his garage (thus the poor picture quality) with a big camper sitting in the driveway in front of it. He couldn’t get it out of the garage, even if he DID want to drive it, without a bunch of work. Made me wonder what kind of running condition the car was in.
I’ve always wanted a slantnose, but I don’t know that white did this car justice. I also wasn’t sure about the drop top version of the slantnose. Call me crazy, but I think a hard top is what I’d choose if I were deciding between two identical slantnose conversions.
A convertible is sure fun to drive. And if I could have the slantnose 911 I would take one anyday. So I definitely think it is worth the money. Will have to keep my eye out for deals like this in the future.
White looks great on this car.
Red or black hard top slantnose would be the only way to go in my opinion. I agree that a white drop top does not do this car justice.
never a fan of the slantnose
I think you might favor the hardtop because the slantnose suggests an even higher degree of track/race inspired or capable car. You dont see rags on the track 🙂
For that age and price I would stay clear and keep looking.
really need to check out from top to bottom.
wish there were more comprehensive pics. it looks good, but maybe not for that price. i just want to see it in all its glory
Yeah, you would really want to make sure it actually was in running condition for that price. It would make a great car for daily driving though.
Was it a new engine dropped in the car? How many miles on the car and how many miles on the engine?
16.5K is alot for a 76′, without knowing about the engine & mileage.
I think it is a nice looking car. Not a bad price either
It is a nice car, but I think the price is a tad high.
agree, slantnose coupe a better looking car.
