You’ve probably seen a video or two about the Porsche 911 Sport Classic already. If not (or heck, even if you have), check this video out. Some great driving footage and a few closeups of the car.
For those of you who don’t already know about the Porsche 911 Sport Classic, it promises to bring back the mystique and wonder of the legendary Carrera RS 2.7 from the 70’s. Duck tail and all. The new Sport Classic will have 403 horses on tap, carbon ceramic brakes behind special Fuchs-style 19″ wheels (similar to the 70’s and 80’s 911SC cars), lowered ride height courtesy of PASM sport suspension, and some great interior touches.
Probably the most important thing for Porsche 911 Sport Classic owners will be the limited production run of just 250 cars. That pretty much guarantees we won’t be seeing any of these on the street, but will instead visit them in museums. I suppose that’s fitting of a $240k base price Porsche. A bit sad though.
I have to throw this out there as an afterthought. In one of the videos, Porsche threw in the tag line “Unique Yourself”. I wonder if they came up with that after watching How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, from the whole “Frost Yourself” campaign? Guess there’s a few closet chick flick lovers in Porsche’s marketing group.
Not as cool as the 993 but a good effort nevertheless; funny how all the worthwhile styling cues are borrowed from the past
